Meet Melissa

I graduated from the University of Bristol in 2019, having first completed a degree in Zoology. Eight long years later I got to achieve my dream of becoming a vet. Yorkshire born and bred, I spent a couple of years in mixed animal practice down in Herefordshire before returning to Yorkshire - it was only a matter of time! Since then, I've spent a few years in a small animal hospital, where I earned my certificate in emergency practice, before setting out on my own as a locum vet supporting local practices. Along the way, I've also completed several practical ultrasound courses - something I truly enjoy. While I've always thrived in the fast pace of emergency and out-of-hours care, I'm now shifting my focus to a more personal approach.

Over the years, I've come to realise that my greatest joy comes from building meaningful lasting relationships with pets and the people who love them. That's what inspired me to start The Roaming Vet—a service rooted in empathy, compassion, and trust. By bringing veterinary care directly to your home, I'm able to offer calm, unrushed, one-to-one appointments in the place where pets feel safest. No stressful car rides, no crowded waiting rooms—just personalised care tailored to your pet's needs. Treating pets in their own environment is incredibly rewarding, as it not only reduces stress and anxiety for them, but also creates a more comfortable and reassuring experience for you.
